SIG Sauer P229
The SIG Sauer P229 is one of the best used pistols to watch for because it was built as a serious service gun. It has an alloy frame, stainless slide, strong reliability reputation, and enough weight to shoot flatter than many modern compact pistols. It feels substantial without being ridiculous.

CZ 75B

Used CZ 75B pistols are worth buying when they are mechanically sound and not overpriced. They make excellent range guns, home-defense pistols, and general 9mm shooters. The slide can be a little harder to grab than on taller-slide pistols, but the shooting experience is excellent. A good used one is rarely a mistake.
Heckler & Koch USP Compact

Condition matters a lot. Older sights can be small, triggers can vary, and collector pricing can get silly. But as a shooter and classic handgun, a good Hi-Power still earns its place. It is not the most practical defensive pistol by modern standards, but it remains one of the best used pistols to own.
Smith & Wesson 3913
The Smith & Wesson 3913 is one of the best used carry pistols from the older single-stack era. It is slim, reliable, and easier to carry than many metal-frame pistols. The alloy frame keeps weight reasonable, while the stainless slide gives it a sturdy feel.

Beretta PX4 Storm Compact
The Beretta PX4 Storm Compact is a smart used buy because it never got the popularity it deserved. The rotating-barrel system helps tame recoil, and the compact size makes it useful for carry or home defense. The looks are polarizing, but the gun itself is very capable.
Used prices can make the PX4 Compact even more appealing. It is reliable, soft-shooting, and backed by a serious manufacturer. If you can find one with good magazines and minimal wear, it is one of the better overlooked defensive pistols on the used market.
Colt Government Model 1911
A used Colt Government Model 1911 can still be worth buying if you know what you are looking at. The Colt name matters, but the pistol also offers the classic 1911 trigger, balance, and shooting feel that keeps people loyal to the platform. A good one is more than just nostalgia.

Used prices can make the FNS-9 more attractive than many newer pistols. The trigger is not amazing, but the gun is reliable and easy to shoot well enough for defensive or range use. If you want FN quality without paying newer FN prices, the FNS-9 is worth considering.
Springfield Armory XD Mod.2 Service
The Springfield XD Mod.2 Service is one of those used pistols that often sells for less than it probably should. The XD line gets mocked online, but many of the full-size and service-size pistols are reliable, comfortable, and easy to shoot. The grip safety bothers some people, but plenty of owners never have an issue with it.
As a used buy, the XD Mod.2 Service makes sense if the price is low and the gun is in good shape. It is not as trendy as a Glock or M&P, but it can serve well as a home-defense or range pistol. For buyers on a budget, it is better than its reputation suggests.
HK P30
The HK P30 is one of the best used hammer-fired pistols to look for if you want quality and durability. It has excellent grip customization, strong reliability, and the kind of build that makes HK fans defend it so hard. It is not cheap, even used, but it feels serious.
The P30 is especially worth buying for shooters who like DA/SA or LEM triggers and want something more refined than a basic polymer striker gun. It may lack modern optics-ready convenience, but it still handles well and lasts. A clean P30 is rarely a bad pickup.
Kahr K9
The Kahr K9 is easy to forget now that the market is full of tiny high-capacity pistols, but it remains a very good used carry gun. The steel frame gives it enough weight to shoot smoothly, and the slim single-stack profile makes it easy to conceal. It has a clean, simple shape that still works.
The long trigger takes practice, but it is smooth and consistent. Compared with lighter polymer Kahrs, the K9 is more pleasant to shoot and easier to control. If you want a slim 9mm carry pistol with old-school quality, a good used K9 is worth buying.
Beretta 84 Cheetah
The Beretta 84 Cheetah is one of the nicest used .380 pistols you can still find. It is larger than most modern .380s, but that size makes it much easier and more enjoyable to shoot. The double-stack grip, metal frame, and classic Beretta styling give it a premium feel.
It is not the most efficient carry gun today because compact 9mms have passed it in power and capacity. But as a range pistol, light defensive pistol, or classic Beretta to keep in the safe, the 84 Cheetah still makes sense. It is one of the few .380s that feels truly special.
